Thomas and Melissa Photo Book

I've been making a ton of photo books lately.  This is one I made for Thomas this weekend.  I love all of these pictures and can't believe how much we have changed in so many ways in only three and a half years.

Book: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

I just finished this book, as in like 5 minutes ago.  It took me forever to finish reading it because I'm a slow reader.  I have to absorb every word and sometimes read sentences twice if my concentration meanders.  It also took me awhile to finish it because I read it on my NookColor device and I constantly got carried away with all of its neat features like highlighting, note-taking, and its internal dictionary.  So cool!

Ok, so I enjoyed the story very much and most of the characters.  I also enjoyed the fast pace as which the story moved.  I tend to lose my patience with pragmatic descriptions and slow-moving plots.  However, I didn't enjoy the convoluted family tree and all of the characters broached just to thicken the chapters with no real importance.  I didn't think it was a stunning story and the characters, with the exception of one, seemed like ones in other suspenseful murder mysteries I've read.  Although, Lisbeth Salander's character was interestingly and intelligently constructed.  She really is an original character with so many complexities.  To me, it seemed like the author spent most of his time constructing the uniqueness of Lisbeth Salander's character and just moved the other characters around in the story like pawns to discover all of the details in the mystery and eventually solve it.

I'm not sure if I want to jump into the next book in the series or just pick up something else and see if I'm still thinking about what happens to Salander.

M is for Mud

Mud, mud, mud, and more mud.  We are in the middle of our muddy season and it's... well... muddy!  We tried to take a walk in the park on Saturday morning and to let Daisy run after sticks and toys, but the mud was our enemy.  Even with mud boots on and towels on the car seats for Daisy's muddy paws, we can't seem to escape it.  Needless to say, we are ready for a bright, warm, mud-less Spring.  Bring on Spring!

Philadelphia Flower Show 2011

This year's theme for the Philadelphia Flower Show is Springtime in Paris.  My mother and I went to the flower show yesterday and thought many of the exhibits were unique and beautiful.  We were, however, a little disappointed with the lack of exhibits compared to years past.  I guess the economy has something to do with that.  Some of our favorite floral showcases are pictured below.

The best part of yesterday was being with my mom.  She is so cute and enjoyable to be with.  We had fun looking around Reading Terminal Market and just being in the city.  Being there makes me want to be a city girl again.

Carter with a Wig

Ivy and I found this gem while searching for pictures of my mom for her surprise 50th birthday party.  We laughed then because of the striking resemblance between her and Carter.  It's just to uncanny not to document in some way.  So, it's going up here and maybe one day Carter will appreciate how amusing and special this photograph is.
