Decorative Initial Cap Test

This is a test post. I'm seeing how this decorative initial cap looks in a post. So what do you think? I like initial caps at the beginning of novels, but not in the beginning of each chapter.

Rugby Movie

If you know Tom, you know that he LOVES rugby. Numerous Saturdays throughout the year begin with watching live rugby as early as 8 in the morning! It's hard not to notice Tom's loud cheering, so I've stopped trying to sleep or find quiet areas in the apartment. Instead, I join him in watching/cheering for his favorite teams. I've learned a lot about the sport and even give the players major kudos for going out on the field without protective gear. Ouch!

Anyway, I saw this trailer being advertised on tv. It's based on a true story and, needless to say, we know where we'll be on December 11th - in the theater!

Sadly, I haven't been able to take as many pictures as I would like to. I've been using my phone to snap some on-the-go shots. Here's one of NYC from the corner of 53rd & Lexington.

Brother-Sister Weekend #5

This is the only picture I have from Brother-Sister Weekend #5. Carter spent Saturday night with us in Philadelphia. The horrible weather kept us inside for most of his visit, so we entertained ourselves with games and other random fun. Every time Carter visits us, I end of compiling a list of "kid-friendly items" to pick up for future stays. We made the best of our time together and even saw Astro Boy at the movie theater.

There's no "I" in Team

I helped my parents out the other weekend by taking Carter to his flag football game. That particular Saturday morning was rainy and gloomy. I thought there would be a good chance of the game being cancelled, but nope, the game must go on! So, I patiently waited through the picture-taking, the practice, and then the game. I loved watching Carter play and enjoy himself on the field. I didn't like the "soccer parents" and their constant verbal reminders from the sidelines directed at their children to: "stay focused!, watch the guy on your left!, grab his flag!" I think directing 8 year olds in a GAME of flag football is a little over the top, don't you think? Just for some sociological fun, I cheered when the other team scored, playfully shouted things like, "yeah baby!, good teamwork!" I think this irritated one mother who seemed to overally agitated about the little mistakes, but I didn't care. Somehow during the last 3 years that her son has been playing football (which she pointed out to me), she forgot that it is a team sport. Oh well, some people don't get it. And never will. At least Carter had fun on a rainy morning playing on a field with kids his age and hopefully learning that there's no "I" in TEAM.

This Month's Top Story is...

Tom got a Job!

This is great news that he and I are absolutely thrilled about. It all happened so quickly, from the interviews to being hired, that it feels like a blur. We are trying to figure out the logistical matters now, like our living situation, purchasing another vehicle, and all the fun things that go along with those tasks. Once we have made some more concrete decisions and know a little more about our next step, I will update all the news here!

Now back to figuring things out...
