That's right. It's that time of year again. This year we did things slightly different. Last year we absolutely enjoyed picking our own tomatoes, but a few hail storms this summer destroyed most crops at surrounding farms. As a result of the damage, many of the farms salvaged the better looking tomatoes and put them on their tables at a higher price. This situation led us to discover a new local farm about 25 minutes from where we live. A friend of ours told us about Maple Acres in Plymouth Meeting, a local farm that sells produce, natural condiments, some dairy, and cute garden accessories. They don't have a pick-your-own option for vegetables and fruits, but flowers can be hand-picked from two of their huge gardens.
We picked flowers, selected vegetables for dinner, and bought two buckets of tomatoes for making soup.
