I finally got my new driver's license card after loosing the original DMV card and asking for a new one twice. I don't know how I can keep track of so much, but simply can't hold onto a piece of paper for 1 week. Anyway, I got my new card on Saturday and went to my parent's house afterwards.

Putting my card in my wallet for safe keeping.
Carter: can I see it?
Me: sure. (handed it to him)
Carter: this picture doesn't look like you.
Me: it was taken today.
Carter: oh, well... i guess it looks like you then.

a beautiful day and game night

Yesterday's weather was absolutely beautiful here in PA. The sun was shining and there was a very warm breeze that felt like a kiss on my cheek all day long. Tom and I immediately went outside to soak up the beautiful weather. We played tennis, had a braai at a nearby park, and then did some errands. Later in the night we hosted game night at our place. We played Apples to Apples, Mafia, and Taboo. At the end of the night we were all more interested in Vlad's stories than playing games, so we listened and laughed ourselves silly.

Friends, Fun, and Mafia!

A group of our friends, Tom and myself get together to have dinner on a monthly basis. We used to have dinner together every week, or try to, during college. It was a lot easier then, but I'm glad we've re-instated the dinners because they are a great way to enjoy friendship and have fun... and not have to think about what's for dinner one night a month. This month was extra special because our good friends who live in London took the journey across the pond during their holiday to spend time with friends and family.

We stayed up way too late chatting, laughing and playing Mafia! It was 2am by the time we got home and the struggle to stay awake during work the next day was unbearable. I won't be doing that again any time soon.

getting busy attorneys to visit the library is not an easy task, but food always helps

The frequent users of the library are loyal of course, but today was about encouraging all attorneys to visit the library. In order for them to visit, they must have a reason. So I gave them a reason: food! Food almost always does the trick and, boy, it work today!

Preparations for National Library Week

National Library Week starts tomorrow! April 12 - 18, 2009. Go to your local library, or find a special library at a local museum or organization and take a tour! Learn about programs and services offered at your library. Or, better yet, get involved!! Many public libraries need volunteers and post community events that need volunteers as well.

Anyway, in preparation for NLW, I'm coming up with a variety of ways for my patrons (attorneys) to get involved, and more importantly, take some time to step away from their work to visit the library. So, one of my NLW ideas is to have a jelly bean guessing contest. The person who guesses the exact amount or closest to it will win a prize. I'm not sure what the prize is yet, I'm still brainstorming. I'm thinking it will be a gift card to Starbucks Coffee shop.

Ouch!

In an effort to shape up, I've been waking up early to do some toning exercises, which include pushups, squats, lunges, plank walk, and free motion with dumb bells. Although it has only been a few days since starting this new routine, I feel great! And in a twisted way, I really like feeling sore because I know that these exercises are working. I'm hoping for mind-blowing results soon... haha!
